Name: Brown Bag Lunch Series at Schoodic Institute: Maritime Pine Communities of Acadia National Park - February 15 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm FREE
Date: February 15, 2018
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST
Two ecologically similar pine species form mid successional communities on ledge outcrops in ANP. Pitch pine dominates communities on Mount Desert Island, while jack pine dominates those on the Schoodic Peninsula. Over two decades of research suggests that their disjunct distribution is due to microclimatic differences between these locations and their ecophysiological adaptations. On Thursday, February 15, 2018 join Michael Day, Associate Research Professor, Tree Physiology and Physiological Ecology, University of Maine and learn the differences of these maritime pine communities. Moore Auditorium at Schoodic Institute in Winter Harbor. Bring your lunch. No registration required.
