Name: Time is Everything: How fish and wildlife are responding to climate change through shifts in phenology in the Gulf of Maine - May 20 @ 7:00 pm FREE
Date: May 20, 2019
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EDT
Have you ever wondered how the possibilities of Climate change can affect our natural fisheries and wildlife resources? Michelle D. Staudinger, Ph.D., Science Coordinator of the DOI Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center gives practical insights in this informative addition to Schoodic Institute’s educational lecture series. Over recent decades, the timing and intensity of seasonal warming and cooling cycles have undergone significant shifts. This talk will explore and contrast phenological responses to seasonal climate drivers with examples spanning from the base of the food chain to higher trophic level species such as fish, seabirds and marine mammals. The ecological and management implications of shifting phenology and interactions with human activities will also be discussed.
